Name: Kenzo
Date of birth: 15.05.2015
Shoulder height: approx. 48 cm
Breed: Breton
Gender: male
Location: Spain, Alcala La Real, shelter El-Camino
Mediterranean diseases : tested positive for leishmaniasis and Ehrlichiosis
Kenzo was out in the fields looking for food and shelter. When people who loved animals found him, the dog was in poor condition, completely malnourished and full of parasites.
The team from the El-Camino animal shelter, which was informed about the males, took him to a foster home where he was fed, was freed from the parasites and was able to recover.
At first, Kenzo was very scared, but he stopped when he realized that nobody wanted anything bad.
After a while the male had to move to the animal shelter, where a test for Mediterranean diseases was carried out, which showed a slightly increased titer and Ehrlichiosis of leishmaniasis.
The treatment that Kenzo received immediately worked well and after another test, the titer in Ehrlichiosis was again in the negative range. Leishmaniasis is also symptom-free and does not cause any problems.
Leishmaniasis is not the end of the world. If the values are very low and the kidneys and heart are not affected, this disease can be contained with just a single tablet a day and a small change in feed. Ehrlichiosis is usually curable.
In the animal shelter, Kenzo settled in well, gained weight and put an end to fear.
Kenzo has a very great nature and a good character.
He is very curious, affectionate and sociable. As soon as the helpers of the shelter come to clean the kennel and feed the dogs, Kenzo stands behind them with the ball in his mouth and wants them to throw the ball at him and then bring him back.
Kenzo also likes to run in the yard with the other dogs.
