Meet Hugo, our wonderful Galgo male with a gentle nature and an impressive stature of 60 cm at the shoulder. The greyhound is not only a beautiful sight with his brindle coat, but also a very special dog who has an eventful past behind him.

A few months ago, Hugo was rescued from the municipal animal shelter in Portugal in a pitiful state. There he not only had to bear physical wounds, but also emotional scars. A large flesh wound where his tail used to be testifies to the torment he had endured. Maggots had settled into the wound and Hugo was in great pain. Gisela didn't hesitate for a minute and immediately brought the heap of misery to her private animal shelter. There the vet was able to clean the wounds and remove the larvae that had eaten into the wound. It's unthinkable that without Gisela this soul dog would have died in agony. Understandably, he was very intimidated and needed time to recover, which he got from Gisela and her team, including lots of cuddles and lots of attention.

Today, Hugo is a happy guy who has settled in well with the group. He is making progress walking on a leash and enjoys spending time in the yard playing with other dogs. His social side is also coming to the fore: he is friendly and respectful towards other dogs and has no problems in the pack.

Despite his positive development, Hugo still needs patience and understanding from his future owners. He needs time to build trust - a process that is very important to him. We would like him to have a loving home with people who will give him the time he needs. Once this trust is there, Hugo will be a loyal companion for life.

Gisela and her companions continue to work hard to improve his leash walking skills and to prepare him as best as possible for his future life as a beloved family dog.
